Domestic violence
Domestic violence (also called domestic abuse) includes physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, threats, coercive control, and financial or digital abuse. It can happen to you or a family member.
The abuser may be someone related to you, like a parent, adult child, or grandparent. It can also be a current or former partner, including a spouse, civil partner, cohabitant, or the other parent of your child. Disputes with neighbours, tenants, or housemates are not covered by domestic violence law.
