Choose the type of grant
Select the grant you are applying for. Each guide includes a step-by-step process and a solicitor checklist.
- Grant of probate
Use this where there is a valid will and at least one executor is willing and able to act.
- Grant of administration (intestate)
Use this where there is no will and a person entitled to administer the estate is applying.
- Grant of administration with will annexed
Use this where there is a will but no executor can act (for example, they have died or renounced).
- De bonis non grant
Use this where a grant has already issued but the personal representative can no longer complete the administration.
- Foreign domicile applications
Use this where the deceased was domiciled outside Ireland and a grant is needed in Ireland.
- Ad litem grants
Use this where a grant is needed for a limited purpose, usually connected with court proceedings.
