Which court should I make my claim in?

This usually depends on the amount of money owed. Choose the option that applies to your case:

Overview

Debt claims can be made in any of the three Irish court jurisdictions, but most are handled in the District or Circuit Court.

The person who is owed money is called a creditor. If they take legal action, they are referred to as a claimant or plaintiff.

The person who owes the money is called a debtor. In court, they are referred to as a respondent or defendant.

These individuals are known as the parties to the case.
