Enduring Power of Attorney
The purpose of an Enduring Power of Attorney is to appoint a person (an Attorney), to look after your financial and/or personal affairs, in the event that you no longer have the mental capacity to do so yourself.
This attorney, despite the name, does not have to be a solicitor. It is just someone you trust to manage your affairs.
You can have more than one attorney and you can choose a replacement attorney in case one of your attorneys is unable to continue in the role. If you have more than one attorney you will have to tell us if they have to make decisions together, or separately.
To start the process of an Enduring Power of Attorney arrangement, you have to go to the Decision Support Service where you can complete and register your arrangement.
